Eflyer design guidelinesAdded: 12th Sep 2011
Category: EflyersThe information below is designed to help you to create the best response from your eflyer marketing, based upon industry best practice and our own experience.
These suggestions can't guarantee a great response every time, but hopefully they will guide you in the right direction!
Eflyer subject
- Should entice people into reading the email - this is the ONLY thing which will make people open your email, as they won't see the design until they click
- Prompt people to click (more info inside, discount tickets offer, limited earlybirds, etc)
- Include the most important info at the start of the subject line, as not all of the subject will be readable on all email clients
- No swear words or common spam words allowed (eg Viagra!)
- If you are a large brand, use your brand name in the subject to entice people. If you are a small brand, focus on headliners and benefits (discount tickets, etc)
Images
- One main image works best (usually the front of a flyer)
- Multiple images can be used but a maximum of two - if you need more, your eflyer is too complicated
- JPEG or GIF image. Flash and videos are not accepted and will not work. If you want to include a youtube clip then take a still image and have that link to the youtube clip HTML, ensuring that all the links work correctly before sending them over. We will send the artwork back if you are not linking to your Skiddle listing
- Image should be around 600px wide (and usually around 1200px high but this varies)
- Maximum image file size is 120kb.
- Any text on the image should be clearly readable and not too small or fuzzy
- Keep the design simple and to the point - you need people to know what/where/when instantly.
- Try to keep the design to focus on one or two events - any more and you may confuse people or dilute the effectiveness
- Image should link directly to ticket sales on Skiddle where possible for the best result (or if using 3rd Party, your own website but response will be lower)
Headline
- Headline should be at the top of the email with your main sales message (ie headliner, date, venue)
- Headline should be bold, size 14 or more
Additional Text
- Text should explain everything in the image, in case people have their images turned off
- All eflyers must have text as it helps ensure your email gets through spam filters
- No swear words or common spam words allowed (eg Viagra!)
- If people are reading the text they must be interested so....
- Provide a clear click through for more information with a REASON to click (for more information and discount tickets, click here) :bold, large text.
- People won't click unless you TELL THEM TO and there is a REASON TO.
Good example: "SW4 2011: Underworld, Pendulum, Svan Vath + 100 other acts: Discount tickets inside!"
Bad example: "SW4 2011 lineup announced"
Good Example: "Hercules + Love Affair @ Sankeys: Click for cheapest tickets"
Bad example: "Events at Sankeys this month"
